Variation of p⊥ and p|| along a field line with a loss cone.

Find loss cone angle. Start with $μ = m v_{⊥}^{2} / 2 B = c o n s t$ , $v_{⊥}^{2} + v_{∥}^{2} = v^{2} = c o n s t$ . and show that for the loss cone $α$ : $\sin^{2} α = B / B i$ , where Bi is the field strength in the ionosphere.
